For
the third year running, Ulla's and my black dog Philip - SU(u)CH
Rotojet's Royal Crown was qualified to participate in the
Uppsala Läns Kennel Club's Champion of Champion competition. The
judge was Mr. Jahn Stääv, Member of the Swedish KC Board, judge
and Chair of the Södermanland's Kennel Club.
Philip
was really into high gear after the winter break from shows since
last November. A total of 49 dogs were entered in this competition
and as usual there was a lottery for the different heats that
the dogs were going to meet in before the dinner. Ulla brought her
daughter Mona along as support and photographer par excellence.
Thank you Mona for all the nice pictures !
When
the two course dinner was finnished all started to prepare their
dogs for the competition.
Philip
started out in the fourth heat against a very nice wirehaired
dachshound and the judge had difficulty to make up his mind on who
was going to to win that heat. Philip prevailed, and moved on to
the next heat, facing a smooth coated Chihuahua and a Leonberger.
Philip was the winner and moved on to the next heat facing an
excellent Bedlington, that my husband Erik throught to be
difficult to beat. Philip once again prevaild and was now in the
semi-final against a smashing black Miniature Poodle. Ulla was so
nervous that she couldn't stand still by the ringside.
The
Poodle was the winner and went on to capture the BIS, but Ulla and
I was so happy for the BIS-3 placing of Philip in
a crowd with group winners galore !
This
was Philip's last show for a long while, since he will now enjoy
the life of being cut down and race around in the woods.
Philip
has had a fantastic career, being the 2nd top male in Sweden
during 2008 and 6th best male 2009, topping it off with the
Group-win at the International Kennel Club show in Visby 2009.
Ulla
and I are very PROUD of Philip's accomplishments in the showrings
and will look forward to match him as a veteran further on.
